1. What we collect
Your email address and sign-in data. Your date of birth, which determines the features available to you. If you choose automated planning from age 19, the profile you enter (sex, height, weight, activity level, goal and pace) and the targets calculated from it. Ages 16–18 do not need to provide body measurements or weight goals. Your food and weight logs, including meal photos and descriptions. Your preferences, timezone, anything you contribute to the shared food database, and the daily nutrition totals calculated from your log.
If you subscribe, we record your subscription status and expiry date. Payment details are handled by the app store and never reach us.
We record AI feature use to manage access, apply usage limits and prevent abuse.
We collect crash and performance reports about your device and app activity, plus screen recordings of sessions where errors occur. We mask information that could identify you.
2. How we use it
To create and secure your account, calculate targets, log meals, estimate nutrition from text and photos, score food quality and processing, keep your data available across your devices, moderate contributions, answer support requests, prevent abuse and fix errors.
We do not sell your log, share it with advertisers, or use it to target advertising. There are no ads. We do not attach your account identifier to content sent for AI analysis.
We collect usage statistics and technical information to improve Gourmang. These data may be linked to your account. They do not include your name, email or personal content. No screens are recorded for analytics purposes.
We use Google services to measure app usage and campaign performance. Google receives app identifiers and technical events, but not your email, account ID or nutrition data. We do not use this data to personalize ads.
3. Legal bases
Our contract with you is the legal basis for managing your account and subscription access, keeping your logs, providing nutrition features and answering service requests. Optional features may need extra information to work.
We rely on our legitimate interests in protecting users and keeping Gourmang reliable to prevent abuse, secure accounts, investigate errors and moderate contributions. We balance these interests against your rights and interests. Handling your privacy rights requests is a legal obligation.
Non-essential analytics and campaign measurement need your consent where required by law. Accepting our terms or reading this policy is not consent. Processing health data needs an additional legal condition, such as explicit consent; our contract alone is not enough.
4. Who else processes it
We send text and images submitted to AI features to an AI provider for analysis. We do not attach your name, email or account identifier, but the content itself may identify you.
We also use providers for hosting, data and image storage, email delivery, diagnostics and subscription management. Our subscription provider receives an account identifier, not your name or email. These providers process your data only to deliver those services.
Our backend, database, file storage and product analytics are hosted in the EU.
Google may process this data outside the EU. See how Google uses data from apps.
5. Retention and deletion
While your account exists, the meals you log are kept for a limited period and your daily totals for longer, so your history and progress keep working. Photos are deleted once they are no longer in use. Deleting your account also requests deletion of account-linked usage statistics.
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Subscriptions are billed by your app store and can only be cancelled there.
Deleting your account does not automatically delete data already sent to Google. That data follows Google’s retention rules.
You can delete your account at any time from the app’s settings. That removes the data tied to it, including your logs and photos, your profile and measurements, your weight history, your targets, and your saved and favourite foods. Approved contributions to the shared food database, and any photos attached to them, remain without identifying you as their author. Copies in our backups and server logs are erased within 30 days.
6. Your rights and contact
Within the limits set by law, you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, limit its processing, or receive a portable copy of data you provided. You can also object to processing based on legitimate interests for reasons relating to your situation.
You can withdraw consent at any time. This does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing based on that consent.
For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, email support@gourmang.com. We may need information to verify your identity. We respond within one month. If the law allows more time because of the complexity or number of requests, we will explain why and how much longer within that month.
You can also complain to your local data protection authority, including the CNIL in France.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services, data practices or legal requirements evolve. The date above shows the latest revision. We will notify you of significant changes, for example in the app or by email, with advance notice where required. If a change requires consent, we will ask for it separately before the processing starts.
